Hello and welcome back to the blog!
Today I have for you a fun recipe that you will LOVE!
**Warning: contains peanuts**
I went to an event with my work called Trunk or Treat. While at the event my boos, Joe was raiding everyone's candy buckets for Snickers bars and Twix bars. We had tons of fun at the event and I knew I wanted to do some kind of candy cake as my last "Halloween" cake.
Originally I wanted to do an elaborate cake that was super colorful, had candy bars coming out if it, etc. It was going to be a WHOLE thing. When I started baking, I realized I wanted to work on my drip technique. Everyone seems to have great success with candy melts, but I can't seem to make candy melts work for me. This is where my snickers idea came in. I decided to go ALL CHOCOLATE. I figured I am not quite talented enough to figure out how to make Twix or Kitkat cake, and since Snickers were still on the brain from the Trunk or Treat event, I decided what's better than the nougat, peanuts, and caramel dipped in perfect chocolate.
While this post is mostly to share my nougat buttercream, I also would like to talk about how I ended up getting the drip in this cake, a hack if you will!
There is this awesome little container sold at most grocery stores called Baker's dipping chocolate. You can not mess this chocolate up! You heat it up in the microwave and it has the perfect silky texture. It makes not only the perfect texture, but the perfect amount for the top of the cake! Here is a link for it:

Once the chocolate is melted, you can put the chocolate in a squeeze bottle or in a piping bag and start the drip! I prefer the squeeze bottle because the drips look nicer, but if all you have are piping bags, it will work as well!
to make my snickers cake as accurate as possible, I made a chocolate cake with a peanut and caramel filling (like literally, peanuts in a bowl mixed with caramel i bought from the store), and I made a "nougat" buttercream! I then covered the cake with a chocolate buttercream from Baking with Blondie and the drip from Baker's.
I had so much fun creating this cake and the design was so simple yet very sophisticated!
